Mr. C. could not believe it!
£48 for a book of speeches? You must think I am mad!
Dear Mr. C.
But ... we are not "just selling" a "book of speeches"! We are providing a whole service to help people successfully deliver their wedding speech, a duty which many people find incredibly stressful.
We have found that success depends upon 3 things:
- Knowing what subjects and issues you should be talking about.
- Having suitable things to say and knowing how to say them.
- Last but not least - practice and rehearsal.
Much of this information is provided for free on our website as evidence of our professional knowledge and to give people confidence in our product, which includes a manageable collection of speeches which WILL work if the user follows our guidelines.
These are designed by a professional speaker to be easily delivered even by novice public speakers, avoiding the many pitfalls possible in a big social occasion, and conforming to the traditional duties of each speaker.
If you search the internet you will find collections of speeches, some of them are even free. You can research these and pick-and mix parts you like. We have observed these and believe they may be a great resource for some people, for example, people who are experienced public speakers and who are familiar with the expectations and responsibilities of their wedding speech, and who have experience writing speeches which flow smoothly from topic to topic and are easy to deliver.
If you compare such speeches with our free help articles , you will notice that a proportion of them suffer from one or more of the problems below:
- They do not deal with all the appropriate 'thanks' which that speaker should normally deliver for the wedding celebration.
- They accidentally cover subjects which are normally appropriate for another speaker, leaving that speaker embarrassed by duplicating.
- They are inappropriate or offensive or just embarrassing to some of the people there. You have an audience ranging from grandparents to toddlers, from manual labourers to civil servants.
- They are cumbersome to read and even more difficult to speak out loud. (Tongue twisters, anyone?)
- They are not as funny as they think they are.
- They are just TOO long.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to respond to your viewpoint.
Best wishes for your wedding speech.
Regards
Mark
